Testing for parasitic diseases of wild boars and chamois in hunting grounds of the Republika Srpska<\/strong><\/h3><p>The Hunting Association of the Republic of Srpska and the Veterinary Institute of the Republic of Srpska \"Dr Vaso Butozan\" Banja Luka, based on the signed cooperation agreement, conducted an examination for the presence of parasitic species of wild boar and chamois in the hunting grounds of the Republic of Srpska. This examination was designed based on the experiences of European countries. The examination included: examination of feces of wild boars and chamois caught in the hunting grounds of the Republic of Srpska and pathomorphological examination of organs for the presence of certain parasitic species.<\/p><p>Based on coprological examinations of fecal samples from wild boars, the following parasitic elements were identified: stork eggs <em>Metastrongylus<\/em> spp., gastrointestinal strongylid eggs, eggs of the species <em>Ascaris suum<\/em>, eggs of the species <em>Gnathostoma<\/em> <em>hispidum<\/em>, spirocercid eggs, stork eggs <em>Capillaria<\/em> <em>spp<\/em>., eggs of the species <em>Trichuris<\/em> <em>suis<\/em> and coccidia oocysts. Approximately 75 samples from shot wild boars, as well as four chamois, were examined.<\/p><p>Pathomorphological examination of the organs of wild caught animals revealed the following parasites: <em>Ma<\/em><em>cracanthorhynchus hirudinaceus, Ascarops strongylina, Physocephalus sexalatus, Globocephalus spp., Metastrongylus spp., Trichuris suis<\/em> and <em>Cysticercus tenucollis<\/em>The most abundant species were <em>Me<\/em><em>tastrongylus spp. <\/em>and<em> T<\/em><em>richuris suis<\/em>Other parasites were found in a smaller number of the examined sample (<em>Cysticercus tenucollis<\/em>, <em>Gnathostoma hispidum<\/em>, <em>Ascarops strongylina, Physocephalus sexalatus<\/em>).<\/p><p>Based on the obtained results of parasitological examinations, we conclude the following:<\/p><ul><li>Wild boars in the territory of the Republika Srpska hunting grounds are hosts to a large number of parasites, some of which are significant for human health;<\/li><li>The most important parasite for the health of wild boars is <em>Me<\/em><em>tastrongylus<\/em> which is widespread in most hunting grounds of the Republika Srpska.,<\/li><li>Wild boars are sources of infection for domestic pigs kept on pastures in certain parts of the Republika Srpska,<\/li><li>Oral deworming of wild boars in closed hunting farms where a known number of wild boars is present is recommended,<\/li><li>It is recommended that the entrails of captured pigs be harmlessly removed after they have been removed by hunters;<\/li><li>Lungs must not be used for human or animal consumption until they have been examined for the presence of <em>M<\/em><em>etastrongylus<\/em> and<\/li><li>Continue surveillance of parasitic diseases in game animals.<\/li><\/ul><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7955 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/virs-vb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/virus-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/virs-vb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/virus-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/virs-vb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/virus-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/virs-vb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/virus-16x12.jpg 16w, https:\/\/virs-vb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/virus-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/virs-vb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/virus-560x420.jpg 560w, https:\/\/virs-vb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/virus.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p><p>Also, as part of this activity, four chamois were examined for endo- and ectoparasites from the municipalities of Fo\u010da and Vi\u0161egrad. The following parasites were detected: intestinal and abomasal strongylides <em>(<\/em><em>Haemonchus spp., Ostertagia spp., Marshallagia spp., Trichostrongylus spp.<\/em><em> Nematodirus spp.<\/em>), , <em>\u041c\u043e<\/em><em>niezia<\/em> spp., <em>Protostrongylidae<\/em> and <em>\u0415<\/em><em>imeria <\/em>spp. \u00a0O\u0434 \u0435\u043a\u0442\u043e\u043f\u0430\u0440\u0430\u0437\u0438\u0442\u0430 \u0441\u0443 \u0443\u0442\u0432\u0440\u0452\u0435\u043d\u0435 \u0441\u0459\u0435\u0434\u0435\u045b\u0435 \u0432\u0440\u0441\u0442\u0435 \u0438 \u0440\u043e\u0434\u043e\u0432\u0438: <em>Ixodes ricinus, Haemaphysalis<\/em> spp. \u0438 <em>Lipoptena cervi<\/em>. <br \/>Sampling of chamois organs was carried out by the expert service of the Veterinary Institute. The first clinical and phenotypic analyses were performed in the VIRSVB laboratory, accredited for the isolation of Salmonella. The isolated bacterium was confirmed as <em>Salmonella<\/em> spp. Later, the API 20 E biochemical test allowed the classification of the isolates as <em>Salmonella<\/em> <em>enterica<\/em> subsp. <em>arizona<\/em>. Regarding phenotypic analysis, biochemical tests and identification of somatic and flagellar antigens by agglutination test were performed.
