During our decades of work, we can proudly highlight successful cooperation with numerous institutions at the European and global level. You can find more details in the content below.
VIRSVB has a long-standing cooperation with the Czech Development Agency, which is implemented through various aspects. In the period 2012-2013, cooperation was established regarding the determination of veterinary drug residues, when, as a result of this cooperation, an orientation qualitative method (6-plate method) was introduced into routine work at VIRSVB, which is based on the inhibition of the growth of microorganisms. From 2017 to the present, VIRSVB has been involved with the Czech Development Agency in the project "Improvement of the food safety system in BiH, Control of the presence of salmonella in the primary production phase", the aim of which is to strengthen all institutions in the food safety control system in BiH, with an emphasis on salmonella, and is based on the current priorities of partner organizations and in accordance with the recommendations of the European Commission for improvement in this area. Local partners in this project are the Food Safety Agency of BiH, the Veterinary Office of BiH, entity ministries of agriculture, inspectorates, laboratories, economic entities and agricultural producers. The result of this project is, for five years, interlaboratory comparative testing for Salmonella spp. (detection and serotyping) organized by VIRSVB, which includes five laboratories from BiH. The organization of this interlaboratory comparative testing was assessed satisfactorily, as were the laboratories, which were also successful. An integral part of this project is the control of food additives, as well as the training of laboratory staff, the development and introduction of methods for the analysis of additives (nitrates E 251-252, benzoic and sorbic acids E 200-219, sulfur dioxide and sulfites E 220-E 228 and food dyes), as well as the procurement of laboratory equipment (HPLC with UV/VIS detector, ELISA reader and washer, equipment for testing sulfites and sulfur dioxide).
VIRSVB and the IAEA have developed long-term cooperation, which is reflected in the strengthening of VIRSVB's laboratory capacities by donating laboratory equipment and diagnostic tools (diagnostics of infectious diseases, radiological examinations).
Cooperation with the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety was achieved through mutual visits and exchange of experiences regarding the epidemiological situation and diagnostics of infectious diseases, and food safety. Also, representatives of the VIRSVB were on a study visit regarding laboratory procedures for the diagnosis of infectious diseases and rabies diagnostics.
The cooperation between VIRVSVB and the Chinese State Veterinary Institute is reflected in the donation of laboratory equipment for molecular diagnostics and the donation of diagnostic tools, which VIRVSVB received after the outbreak of the African swine fever epidemic. Also, VIRVSVB representatives were on a study visit to the Republic of China, on the topic of biosecurity on pig farms and diagnostics of infectious diseases.
The long-standing cooperation between VIRSVB and WOAH is based on the exchange of information regarding infectious diseases and zoonoses, the organization of interlaboratory tests, seminars, and training for VIRSVB staff.
Within the TECA (Technologies and Practices for Small Agricultural Producers) online platform, which brings together successful agricultural technologies and practices to facilitate knowledge exchange and help family farmers on the ground, the cooperation between VIRSVB and FAO is based on an optimal and stable environment for bee food production.
The cooperation is based on the participation of VIRSVB in APIMONDIA working groups, inclusion in the thematic streams of the federation, and improvement of veterinary practice and knowledge in the field of beekeeping.
